Whistleblowing mechanism (phone and email) will be managing by TI and Loveckorupcniku.cz, which will provide administrative and legal service to the CIHA. This mechanism will be a substitute for previous anti-corruption e-mail address of the Association, which was in function since June 2015 and obtained 16 entries since its start. Guarantor of these anti-corruption measures is former world champion Jiří Kochta.

„Fair-play is integral part of sport and ethical line is clear message, that there is a will to cultivate this area and not to sweep problems under the carpet. We want hockey people to deal with sport, not with corruption. We will be happy to contribute to that with our expertise,“ says David Ondráčka, TI director. „Crucial problem of our society in the matter of corruption is minimal willingness to quality and early whistleblowing. Yet whistleblowers are those with the most power to stop and punish corruption. That is why it is so important to support and protect whistleblowers and raising of public awareness on the issue. That way every responsible citizen can be a „corruption hunter,“ including sportsmen Jan Hanák, Lovec korupčníků.

If there is well-founded suspicion of a crime or an administration delict Transparency International and Loveckorupcniku.cz initiative are ready to transmit the case to authorities. „In TI, we are dealing with whistleblowing for many years, currently through our campaign www.zapiskej.cz. Important is not only prevention and uncovering the cases, but also care for the whistleblowers themselves. Assuring anonymity and expert individual advisory is a key priority for us,” says Martina Mikolášková, TI lawyer.

Cooperation with trustworthy partners is a guarantee of independence, impartiality and professionalism which cases will be dealt with.“ Bedřich Ščerban, member of CIHA executive board. „I see as a benefit also the educational dimension of this cooperation – every player, trainer, referee or an official will know how to deal with this kind of situation.“ Jiří Kochta will continue in his guarantee role of the ethical mechanism.

In this pilot version, the mechanism will be in function for eight months of the ice hockey season. Expenses are covered by Czech Ice Hockey Association (14K CZK for TI and 6K CZK for Loveckorupcniku.cz)

Help us to convince those who still don’t fully understand that whistleblowing may save money, lives, health and the environment. Whistleblowing promotes legal environment where unfairness and illegality may occur. TI stands up for the adoption of a wide ranging and an effective protection of whistleblowers and we’ll be stronger with your support: www.zapiskej.cz.
