The Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) Transparency International Czech Republic (TI) provides legal counsel free of charge to citizens, who have encountered corrupt practices and are willing to report it as well as to civil servants or employees of private companies, who found out about corrupt practices at their workplace, aka whistleblowers.

TI, which the Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) is part of, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which has the same legal status towards public administration organs as the common citizen. Therefore, we do not have the authority to conduct legal investigation, as the Czech Police, the public prosecutor or in certain areas the ombudsman have. On this basis also stands the role of the advice bureau: We are able to give you advice regarding your rights, recommend how to proceed and which institutions to contact, when you encounter corruption.

Since the time and capacity of our lawyers is limited we ask you to always contact us via e-mail or phone prior to a personal visit to the TI legal advice bureau.

Our bureaus would additionally prefer it to receive relevant documents and at least a short summary of the case the client wishes to report and discuss prior to a personal meeting. This way our lawyers will be able to become familiar with the materials, bring the case into context with the according legal provisions and case law as well as prepare for the specific questions the client might have. Due to this procedure the legal advice bureau can work faster, more thorough and better and therefore provide improved services.
